Your USA2Everywhere shipping charges will be based on either the volume weight or actual weight of your packages, whichever is greater. Volume or dimensional weight is used in the airline industry to calculate the space that a package will take up inside of the plane versus the package’s actual or dead weight. For example, 5 kg of clothing will take up much more space than 5 kg of golf balls.
Volume weight is calculated with the formula: Length x Width x
Height (in centimeters)/6000
For example, you have a package that has an actual weight of .5 kg and whose dimensions are 25.4 x 20.32 x 12.7 cm. The volume weight = 25.4x20.32x12.7=6554.83/6000 = 1.09 kg.
The shipping charge would be based on the 1.09 kg volume weight
instead of the .5 kg actual weight since it is the heavier weight. The 1.09 would be rounded up to 1.5 kg as all
weights, actual or volumetric, are rounded to the nearest ½ kg.
You should also keep in mind that USA2Everywhere also performs the added service of resizing many of the packages we receive. We try to remove excess packaging materials that arrive with your order to create smaller packages which may reduce the overall volume weight of your package and save you additional money.
